Brake mechanism.-In a back-pedalling brakeoperating mechanism for cycles, of the kind actuated by a pedal crank, on back-pedalling the crank P engages behind the nose of a guided main lever C disposed horizontally beneath the chain stays and slotted towards its rear end to engage with a second lever D which, during driving, functions to restore the main lever to operative position after the passing of the crank. At its tail the main lever is pivoted to a spring- controlled cross-lever L connected to the brake yoke. The lever C is mounted in guide-slots in the vertical hangers of a saddle plate B secured to the frame. The yoke consists of two flat arms twisted to form overlying horizontal shank portions which have a series of perforations to allow for adjustment.
