Abstract

390,355. Tandem bicycles. BUNDY, A. H., 117, Fore Street, Upper Edmonton, London. June 10, 1932, No. 16429. [Class 136 (iii).] In a tandem bicycle of the type in which a bicycle of ordinary solo form is provided with an additional saddle on a rear extension and with additional pedal cranks on the spindle 8 of the rear wheel, the drive from the latter spindle being transmitted by a chain wheel 3 and an additional chain to the usual crank spindle and thence through the usual chain back to a sprocket wheel 2, the spindle 8 is mounted in the following manner to permit chain adjustment. The spindle 8 is mounted in housings 4, of rectangular or equivalent shape, slidably mounted in forwardly-opening or " knock-out " slots 5 in the frame, and provided with adjusting screws 9 and wing-nuts 10 coacting with lugs 11 on the frame.
