Abstract
459,608. Cycle pedals. BANE, J., 13, Nursery Lane, Forest Gate, London. Oct. 24, 1935, No. 29390. [Class 136 (ii)] A cycle pedal comprises a tube or sleeve a to receive the spindle and having laterally extending arms c, to which a plate d is removably attached by screws or other fastenings, so that it can be readilv renewed. The arms c are formed with plate-supporting surfaces substantially tangential to the outer surface of the sleeve a, and may be arranged in pairs extending in alignment on opposite sides of the sleeve, or may be in staggered positions. The plate d carries a toe-clip h, which may be integral with the plate or may be detachably secured thereto, as by means of a flange g and screws or bolts i. The sides of the plate dare upwardly bent at f to prevent the rider's shoe from slipping sidewise. A toe-strap k engages a slot l in the central arm c and notches m in the side arms. The plate d is provided with a notched ridge along one edge to increase the foothold.
