Abstract

585,016. Cycle saddles. FIELDING. D. T. E. Jan. 4. 1945, No. 344. [Class 136 (iii)] The frame of a bicycle saddle is formed by two forwardly extending arms A bolted or otherwise affixed to a bracket B by which the saddle is secured to the usual seat pillar, the arms being inclined to one another and separated at their front ends by a narrow block c<1> arranged between them and projecting forwardly to form a saddle stretcher, the distance between the front ends of the arms being a minimum consistent with these ends acting as a guide for the narrow block, and in which a bracket C is secured between the arms, rearwardly of the block, carrying or forming a nut for a screw d the forward end of which is formed integrally with or fixed to the block c<1>. The latter is prevented from lateral movement by guides formed by the upturned ends A<1> of the arms A or by a U-shaped bracket. The rear end of the saddle cover D .is secured to a downwardly projecting flange d<2> on a cantle plate D<1>. In the construction shown in Fig. 7, the cover D is mounted on a series of wires E' extending from a lug C<2> on the bracket C, passing over the resilient pad E and fixed to the flange d<2>.
