Abstract

710,645. Motor-cycle fuel containers; mudguards. FRANCIS & BARNETT, Ltd., FRANCIS, G. I., and KING, W. A. Feb. 13, 1952 [Feb. 14, 1951], No. 3539/51. Classes 79(3) and 136(1) A saddle type fuel tank is supported from the frame of a motor cycle between the seat pillar tube and the rear wheel and the channel in the tank receives the periphery of the wheel to form a guard therefor. As shown the fuel tank 1 for a pedal assisted motor cycle is arranged behind the seat pillar tube 4 of the frame and the adjacent portion of the rear wheel 5 is arranged within the channel 2 in the tank. The upper end of the tank carries pins 11 which engage rubber grommets 12 in a member 13 interconnecting the rear fork stays 10, a filler opening 14 being provided between the stays. The lower end of the tank carries a channel piece 6 forming an extension of the channel 2, the piece being secured to the bottom bracket 8 and the rear forks 7. The upper part of the wheel is provided with a mudguard 16 secured to the member 13.
