Abstract

1413691 Stud and panel wall structures S THUNBERG 17 Oct 1972 [21 Oct 1971] 47853/72 Heading E1W The outer cavity wall of a building includes spaced inner and outer panels 11, 10 mounted on a framework of upper and lower horizontal members each having spaced inner and outer rails 16, 17 interconnected by spacers 18, and independent vertical studs each comprising spaced inner and outer uprights 21, 22 which are separately secured to the horizontal members. The studs are tubular and their ends fit over projections e.g. 19, 20 on the upper and lower horizontal members. The panels, e.g. 10, are secured to the studs by latch members 43. Internal partition panels, e.g. 49-52, have flanges 54 engageable in channels of studs 46, 47, a resilient member 58 and roller or ball 59 providing a wedging action. The wedging action can be released by depressing the roller or ball 59 with a rod 62 inserted through a hole 63 in the panels. Alternative arrangements of the roller and resilient member, including two panels having a flange engaged in a common channel, are disclosed. A stud 92a for the internal partition is vertically adjustable on a stand 93, a plate 94 being pivoted at 96 to the stud and surrounding the stand 93 to produce a locking action. The stud may be raised or lowered by levers 98a or 98 engageable through apertures in the stud. A crenelated type of panel, Figs. 30-33 (not shown) may be inserted between the panels 10 and 11. The panels may be laminated.
