Abstract

Distance pieces for multiglazed sound insulating windows spaces the panes whilst permitting dehydration of the cavity. A preferred embodiment envisages four panes (31, 32, 33, 34) with three lateral interpane gaps of say 5mm, 50mm and 5mm: the window thus insulating thermally and acoustically. The spacer in section comprises a hollow member (45) with a perforated horizontal top wall (36) and incorporating two U sections (53), one positioned at each side of and flush with this top. Inner panes (33, 34) lodge in the U's and outer panes (31, 32) abut the external vertical U legs; external pairs of frames thus being separated by these legs. The core of the member houses dehydration media.
