Abstract

484,750. Walls; attaching door and window frames; blocks. MAYO, H. J. June 30, 1937, No. 8747. [Classes 20 (iii), 20 (iv), and 87 (i)] The joint faces of wall blocks 3 are formed with double-dovetail-section grooves 4 for the reception of correspondingly shaped preformed, double-ended concrete key members 5 by which the blocks are secured together. The length of the key members is equal to the depth of the blocks and each key extends from the midheight of a pair of adjacent blocks to the midheight of the superposed pair. At door or window openings, the ends of the blocks are secured by concrete keys 5b, Fig. 3, of singledovetail section, inserted in the inner portions of the grooves in the blocks, the outer portions of the grooves being occupied by strips of wood 6 to which the door or window frame 7 is secured. The wall blocks may be formed with cavities 11, which communicate with ventilating openings formed in the outer faces of certain of the blocks,
