Abstract
493,133. Walls; columns; building- blocks. WITHEROW, W. P. Jan. 1, 1937, No. 69. Convention date, Oct. 21, 1936. [Classes 20 (i), 20 (iii), 20 (iv), and 87 (i)] A building structure, such as a wall, is built up from cored standard blocks 10 having dimensions substantially in the ratio 2: 1: 1 and solid fractional blocks 22 having dimensions substantially in the ratio 1 : ¢ : in the same units. The unit is preferably 8" and the blocks are of concrete. An extra width block 15 similar to the block 10 and one and a half times its width and/or fractional blocks similar to the block 22 and twice or three times its height may also be employed. The standard block 10 and the extra width block 15 have a recessed panel formed in each of the faces 12, 13 and a slot 14 in the other end face to receive, for example a sash 32. The fractional blocks .20, 22 have three adjacent faces each provided with a recessed panel and the other faces plain. Fig. 6 shows part of a construction employing blocks 10, 15, 20, and 22. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also various constructions of walls, columns, &c., involving the use of one or more of the blocks described above. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
