Abstract

1412318 Electro-photographic element INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 15 Nov 1973 [26 Dec 1972] 52959/73 Heading G2C An electro-photographic element comprises a support with an electrically conductive surface and a photo-conductive layer comprising a charge transfer complex of polyvinyl carbazole and trinitrofluorenone dissolved in tetrahydrofuran (THF) and a dispersion of a disazo pigment which has been milled to submicron size in a solvent containing at least 50 wt per cent of benzene or an alkyl substituted benzene which is liquid below 20‹C and has a boiling point of less than 250‹C, the layer containing a residual amount of the benzene solvent. Specified substituted benzenes are toluene, ethyl-, propyl- or t-butyl benzene, xylene, mesitylene and cumene. The element is able to withstand a higher operating temperature than that disclosed in Specification 1370197 which uses THF as sole solvent. The layer preferably contains polyvinyl formal as adhesive binder.
