Abstract

1,195,147. Electrophotographic element. RICOH K.K. 24 Oct., 1968 [25 Oct., 1967], No. 50586/68. Heading H1K. An electrophotographic element comprises a support carrying on a surface thereof a photoconductive layer containing at least one merocyanine dye of formula wherein X is either wherein R is an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms and m and n are zero or integers. In the specific embodiments the dye is added to a mixture of zinc oxide and silicone resin in toluene, pyridine and methanol and coated on an aluminium plate. Alternatively an alkyd resin and triethylamine may be used in place of the silicone resin and pyridine respectively.
