Abstract
1406010 Electric cables STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 8 Nov 1973 51868/73 Heading H1A [Also in Division B5] A screened electrical cable includes a cable core 1 which comprises a plurality of insulated conductors and is filled with a water impervious jelly-like material such as petroleum jelly. A plastics layer 2 is extruded over the filled core 1, a metallic screening layer 3 is formed directly over the layer 2 and a plastics sheath 4 is extruded directly over the screening layer. Layer 2 and sheath 4 may be of polyethylene. The metallic screening layer 3 may be formed of a metallic tape such as aluminium tape wrapped longitudinally around the plastics layer 2 with its longitudinal edges overlapping. Alternatively the metallic screening layer 3 may be formed from a metal/plastics laminate.
