Crank chambers.-In an engine for a motor-cycle, the crank-web adjacent the power-transmission end of the driving-shaft, and the crankpin may be removed through an opening in the crank case without detaching the crank chamber from the frame of the cycle, and without disturbing the setting of the mechanism for actuating the valve-gear and a magneto. To unscrew a nut on the crank-pin prior to dismounting, a spanner is inserted through an inspection opening in the side of the crank casing remote from a removable cover A, which is shaped, as shown in Fig. 2, to provide an elongated opening approximating to the vertical dimension of the crank-case. The cylinder is removed to withdraw the piston and the connecting-rod.
