Abstract

1392589 Tensioning flexible sheets RICOH KK 30 July 1973 [8 Aug 1972] 36103/73 Heading B6C The trailing edge of flexible sheet 42, (which may be a printing plate), is clamped to drum 1 by being forced against hooks 34b by movable roller 29 and tensioned by a pivoting movement of arm 34 after the hooks have pierced the sheet. The roller 29 is moved by tightening of spring clutch 18, which makes a temporary connection from rotating gear 19 to shaft 17, in a synchronism imposed by a cam rotating with the drum. Hand lever 13 and the cam combine to release spring end 23b from plate 6a and spring 23 therefore tightens on the annular extension of gear 19, rotating with it until spring end 23b (but not shaft 17), has completed a revolution and engagad plate 6a again.
