Abstract
1389062 Flexible towing connections A P A KG OTTO BAUDER 1 March 1972 [3 March 1971] 9619/72 Heading B8B [Also in Division H2] A vehicle towing cable comprises two steel cable pieces 1, 1<SP>1</SP> of approximately equal lengths, with jackets of electrically insulating material and metallic retaining parts 2, 2a and 2<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP>a at the ends of these pieces, spring clips being either detachably on non-detachably connected to the retaining parts to facilitate use of the cable pieces as a pair of conductors for connecting an exhausted vehicle battery with a good one. The two cable pieces 1, 1<SP>1</SP> extend through a pair of discs 3, 3<SP>1</SP> between which is housed a compression spring 4 and when the towing cable facility is being used, the retaining parts 2a and 2<SP>1</SP>a engage the discs to compress the spring 4 during shock loading in the towing operation, the other retaining parts 2, 2<SP>1</SP> being engaged by buckles 5, 5<SP>1</SP> to form loops at the ends of the cable. The spring closed clips for coupling to battery terminals may be either permanently secured to the retaining parts of the cable (Fig. 2, not shown) or removably secured thereto by a retaining part receiving sleeve having a locking screw therein (Fig. 3, not shown).
