Abstract

1385594 Spray coating apparatus HONSHU PAPER CO LTD 19 June 1972 [10 Sept 1971] 28537/72 Heading B2F Apparatus for spraying a uniform coat on sheet structures comprises a cylindrical header 101 for receiving compressed air and having a plurality of openings 102, first and second lip members 103, 104 extending substantially the full length of the header and secured thereto, the lip members defining there between an air chamber 105 and converging to form an air jet slit 126, a block member 116 defining with the lip member 103 a liquid chamber 119, a blade 125 secured to the block member and co-operating with the lip member 103 to form a liquid spray tip 106, and a plurality of liquid supply tubes 127 secured to the block member for the supply of coating liquid to the chamber 119. The air jet slit 126 and spray tip 106 are adjustable by means of set screws 115 and 143, respectively, and the blade 125 may be provided along its edge with recesses (144), Figure 2 (not shown). An overflow baffle 128 enables a uniform flow of liquid into the liquid chamber 119. A pneumatic system comprising an air cylinder 129 and piston rod 133 is pivotally connected to the block member 116 to move the block member and blade 125 away from the lip member 103 for cleaning.
