Abstract

1383192 Bending presses MANNESMANN-MEER AG 20 Feb 1973 [13 April 1972] 8207/73 Heading B3E A bending press for bending sheet metal into U-shaped shells comprises a plurality of portal frames arranged one behind the other and connected together and each comprising first and second frame sections, a bending ram 5 attached to the second frame section through an hydraulic press 30, and bending die elements 6, 7 supported on the first frame section 1. The second frame section comprises two tie members 2, 3 which are articulated to the first frame section 1 by joint pins 11, 12 and attached at an apex point through joints to a cross member 4 via joint pins 27, 28. A further connection between members 2, 3 is effected through joint pin 13 against which the ends of the members are loaded by a spring bolt 16 whose resilience is determined by a spring 22 and is adjustable by a nut 26. Bearing segments 14, 15 are provided between members 2, 3 and pin 13. A bending tool 29 co-operates with central die section 6 and lateral bending rollers 7, the latter attached to tables 9, 10 and operable through cylinders 8. Frame sections 1, (1a), (1b), Fig. 2 (not shown) are attached to a press bed 35 and beams 38; tie members 2, (2a), (2b), 3 comprise plates (23), (24) attached together through elements 25. Sheet panels are introduced into and removed from the press by a track 34 on movable table 33.
