Abstract

1,169,524. Stamping. AIDA TEKKOSHO K.K. 30 Nov., 1966 [6 Dec., 1965; 27 June, 1966], No. 53574/66. Heading B3Q. A press unit comprises a plurality of presses A<SP>1</SP>-A<SP>4</SP> in an aligned row, a separate bed B to which the frame of each press is connected, and a transfer unit connected to the bed B and having feed bars 1, 1<SP>1</SP> for successively transferring an intermediate product from the first press A<SP>1</SP> to the succeeding presses. A pair of screwthreaded tie-rod (E), Fig. 6 (not shown), and bolts (15) secure each press to the bed B. Guide blocks 5a, 5<SP>1</SP>a, 5, 5<SP>1</SP> supporting the feed bars 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, slide on bars 4, 4a for closing transfer jaws 2. The blocks are connected to links 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, 6a, 6<SP>1</SP>a on discs 7, 7a which are rotated through 180 degrees to operate the jaws, a shaft 3e interconnecting the two disc mechanising. Endwise movement of the bars 1, 1<SP>1</SP> is effected by a slide 9 on rails 8, 8<SP>1</SP> and forming a lateral guide in which may move blocks 10, 10<SP>1</SP> connecting the rails to the slide. Housings 3, 3a supporting the transfer device, are fixed to the bed B. Strip from a coil is fed beneath a stripping plate 37, Fig. 8, on the blanking and stamping press A<SP>1</SP> by feed rolls D which may be driven by a piston and a rack-and-pinion gear. The press A<SP>1</SP> includes an upper blanking-and-shaping die 24 and an upper workholder 25. Mounted on the bed B are co-operating lower dies 27, 28 and a lower die-ring 29 on rods 30 carried by a cushion 32 which allows the ring to withdraw during the drawing operations. After the cushion has returned the die-ring 29, it is given a further upward movement, to raise the intermediate product M into the plane of the gripperjaws 2, by hydraulic fluid supplied to a cylinder 33 above the cushion under the control of an electromagnetic valve 36<SP>1</SP>.
