Abstract

1382698 Toy motor vehicles; toy. boats M I GLASS [trading as MARVIN GLASS & ASSOCIATES] 27 Sept 1972 [30 Dec 1971] 44617/72 Heading A6S A toy vehicle has at each end a single spherical wheel 14, 16, both wheels being powered by a motor. The vehicle may either float with its wheels 14, 16 providing the requisite buoyancy or run along the ground; or on dirt, &c. A battery 50 in a water-tight compartment has its centre of gravity below the axles 22, 24 of the wheels 14, 16. An onoff switch 122, &c connects the battery 50 to an electric motor, Fig. 4 (not shown), also having its centre of gravity below the wheel axles 22, 24. The motor drives through gears 70, 72, 82 to a recessed toothed gear surface 108 formed in the rear wheel 16. A belt 92 connects a pulley 88 integral with the gear 82 to a similar pulley-gear 96, 98 meshing a recessed tooth gear surface 106 in the front wheel 14, which is accordingly also driven. The centre of gravity of the vehicle as a whole is so arranged as to maintain it in or restore it to an upright position. The wheels 14, 16 are each in three parts: a main, centre part 14c, 16c and two outer small parts 14b, 16b &c, located outside the side frames of the vehicle body. Ribs 110, 112 on the wheels provide traction &c.
