Abstract
1382630 Discharge tubes ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO Ltd 17 Nov 1972 53161/72 Addition to 1382502 Heading HID In a magnetron tuning arrangement according to the parent Specification, one of the multipactor electrodes is in the form of a thermionic cathode, and a magnetic field is provided to restrict the discharge, whereby the initiation and build-up of the latter is assisted. As shown, the central multipactor electrode 13, which is connected to the control system by the conductor ring 18, is the cathode, and a magnetic field is produced by the permanent magnet polepieces 20 and 29. A structure in which, instead, the two outer electrodes 11 and 12 are thermionic cathodes is referred to.
