Abstract
1,098,482. Magnetrons. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO. Ltd. Jan. 8, 1965 [Feb. 12, 1964], No. 5861/64. Heading H1D. A magnetron arrangement for variably tuning an inverted type multicavity magnetron oscillator comprises a cavity resonator 1 whose wall 101 is connected as anode, at least one cathode within the cavity resonator and means for setting up an axial magnetic field. Either the magnetic field strength, the electric field or the cathode emission may be varied. A relatively large diameter cathode is used or it may be replaced by a ring of cathodes. The tuning cavity is centrally within a vane type anode block 14 which is surrounded by an annular cathode 12 and the tuning cavity communicates with the working space of the magnetron proper through slots or holes in the anode block. Separate magnetic fields M and MM are provided.
