Abstract
1376309 Phosphating PYRENE CHEMICAL SERVICES Ltd 14 Aug 1972 [20 Sept 1971] 43763/71 Heading C7U A phosphate coating is formed on an iron or steel surface by treating with a solution containing zinc, phosphate, a chlorate, nitrate and optionally a fluoride. The solution may also contain calcium fluoride. The treatment solution is replenished by adding (a) a mixture comprising chlorate preferably NaClO 3 and neutralizing agent, e.g. NaOH, trisodium phosphate, sodium zincate or other alkali metal equivalents, and (b) an acidic aqueous solution containing zinc, phosphate, nitrate and optionally the fluoride and some of the chlorate. The treatment solution is applied by spraying, and contains, in weight ratio:- P 2 O 5 1À0 NO 3 0À1-0À4 ClO 3 0À2-0À7 Zn 0À2-0À7, and if present, F 0À1-0À4.
