Abstract

1374247 Photo-flash control circuit PONDER & BEST Inc 24 Aug 1971 [11 June 1971] 20163/74 Divided out of 1374245 Heading G2A A flash tube 594 is energized by pulses from a generator 593, a photo-detector circuit 596 being connected to the generator to terminate pulse generation on receipt of a predetermined quantity of light. As shown, a pulse from a trigger circuit 595 triggers tube 594 and via capacitor 59304 and capacitor 59307 switches on transistor 59306 to turn on a thyristor 59301. This causes a supply capacitor 592 to discharge through a capacitor 59304 and tube 594 until capacitor 59304 is charged. This turns off thyristor 59301, and turns on thyristor 59302 whereby capacitor 59304 discharges through the tube. When capacitor 59304 is discharged thyristor 59302 turns off, thyristor 59301 turns on and capacitor 592 again discharges. This process is repeated to energize tube 594 by means of pulses until a photo-detecting integrating circuit blocks thyristor 59302 to prevent further generation. The charge remaining on supply capacitor 591 is thus conserved.
