Moulds.-A pouring block or funnel for use in casting brass ingots is arranged to deliver the metal rapidly until the casting is nearly completed, and then at a slow rate to avoid piping. The block has openings 6, 7, Fig. 1, at different levels or in separate compartments 8, 9, Fig. 4, which are joined when the block is filled. When the mould 1 is nearly full, the supply of metal from the pot 2 is stopped, and as soon as the upper holes 7 are uncovered, or the compartment 9 is empty, the rate of delivery falls.
