Abstract

1372731 Electro-photographic developing apparatus XEROX CORP 13 Dec 1971 [14 Dec 1970 29 Dec 1970] 57764/71 Heading G2H [Also in Division B1] A device 25 for maintaining a homogeneous developer mixture of toner and carrier particles in an electrostatic copier comprises a series of channels 40, 41 sloping downwards in one direction and a series of channels 42, 43 sloping downwards in the opposite direction. In use, a magnetic brush 14 applies developer to a drum 10 and excess developer is picked up by a magnetic brush 20 and allowed to slide down a plate 26 to the device 25. The channels 40-43 split the developer into diverging flow paths so that it is agitated and mixed before returning to brush 14. An alternative mixing device of unitary structure is depicted in Figs.4, 5 (not shown).
