Abstract

1,195,738. Developing electrostatic images; automatic mixture control. ADDRESSOGRAPH - MULTIGRAPH CORP. Oct.13, 1967 [Oct.20, 1966] No.46836/67. Headings G2H and G3R. Toner is added to a developer mix in response to the electrical resistance of the mixture sensed by a control circuit 12 having a thyratron 42 which energizes the winding 36A of a solenoid 36. The resistance of the mixture, which comprises carrier particles, e.g., iron and a pigmented resin, is sensed by an electrode 40 spaced from a drum 20 carrying a magnetic brush 24 formed of developer. The electrode 40 is connected to the grid of the thyratron, such that when the resistance of the mixture is decreased due to depletion of toner in the mixture the thyratron conducts to energize winding 36A. The solenoid 36 vibrates a feed trough (34) Fig.3 (not shown) to dispense from a supply 28.
