Abstract

1368542 Thermionic valves PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 2 Feb 1973 [5 Feb 1972] 5328/73 Heading H1D A discharge tube includes a cylindrical grid comprising oppositely wound groups of wire helices 1, 2 welded together at each cross point 3, some wires of each group being thicker than the remainder to provide mechanical stability at temperatures up to 2000‹ C. The wires are of Mo and a known method to reduce thermionic emission is described comprising applying coatings of ZrC and Pt or Au; the ZrC is provided by sintering in an inert atmosphere at 2000‹ C.
