Abstract
1,016,067. Electrode materials. CSFCOMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. Nov. 15, 1963 [Nov. 22, 1962], No. 45157/63. Heading H1D. Unwanted thermionic emission from an electrode-e.g. from the anode of a high-voltage diode-is reduced by employing as the electrode a sintered metal coating on a ceramic base, the sintered layer being itself covered by an emission-reducing layer of gold, platinum, or titanium. The ceramic base may be part of the ceramic envelope of a tube, upon which a coating of molybdenum, molybdenum/titanium, or molybdenum/manganese/iron is formed by sintering in a hydrogen atmosphere at 1550 C., the gold, platinum, or titanium subsequently being applied electrolytically before reheating in vacuum at 1000 C.
