Abstract

1448069 Thermionic cathode constructions THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 8 May 1975 [11 Feb 1974] 06047/74 Heading H1D The main electrodes of a h.p. discharge lamp comprise a bundle of W wires twisted either together in a bundle or around a central wire. Wires of W with ThO, of Al for gettering, or of a metal of the filling may be included. The central wire may be of W, Mo or Fe and can be removed to provide space for emissive material. Tubular W braid is wound over part of the bundle. The tip of the bundle may be bound with W wire the other end is splayed and welded to a Mo foil lead. Lamp fillings include Hg, Na, and iodides of Se, Th, In, Ga, Tl.
