136,637. Garratt, E. A., and Cooke, A. C. Dec. 18, 1918. Water-tube boilers; steam and water drums.- In a vertical water-tube boiler having an upper drum a extending beyond the tube area over a combustion chamber, the furnace being arranged below the lower drum b, the upper drum is flattened for a part of its length to receive the tubes, the cross-sectional area of the flattened part of the drum being less than that of its cylindrical ends. The diameter of the upper drum is slightly larger than the length of the tubes, to allow the tubes to be withdrawn into the drum. A man-hole f is provided at one or at each end of the drum.
