Tubes, water.-The diameter of the larger end of each of the conical cross water-tubes 3 fitted in the flue of a Cornish or other boiler is at least three times the diameter of the smaller end. The tubes are placed with their larger ends downwards, and they may be alternately inclined from side to side of the flue, as shown.
