Abstract

Tubes, water; water-circulation, promoting.- Water tubes G are arranged between the furnace grate and the bottom of a tubular or other boiler, and connected as shown to the front and rear of the boiler in such a way that circulation of water takes place through them. The tubes are covered with blocks I as shown in Fig. 5, but one or more spaces H are left for the passage of the flames. The rear connecting-pipes are crossed at c, as shown in Fig. 4, which is a rear elevation, so that expan- sion can take place freely. An ordinary blow-off valve is fitted at l for the purpose of removing sediment from the pipes and the tubes G.
