The tube D and its connections are shown to an enlarged scale in Fig. 2. Jets of steam delivered opposite to the openings d induce a flow of air through them to the fire. The water jacket of the tube D is connected by pipes h and h<1> to the boiler water space. According to the Provisional Specification, tubes such as D may be placed at both sides of the furnace and along the back ; the water jacket may also be utilized " as " a hot-water supply for the boiler or for heating water for other purposes.
