Transformers.-An induction coil comprises two or more distinct sections, each having its own primary and secondary coils and core, mounted and disposed so that no induction effect is exerted between the sections. The ratio between the length of the core, the diameter of the core, and the lengths of the primary and secondary windings along the core is substantially the same in each section as in a single coil giving substantially the same out-put as the induction coil and of length equal to the sum of the lengths of the sections. The secondary windings are connected in series. The object is to increase the output from the secondary winding relative to the weight of the coil, or to the input, or to both; the gauge of the wire may be reduced. An insulating-tube is employed between primary and secondary windings on each section, and is extended beyond the windings and core at one end to prevent sparking.
