Axles and axle structures. -A temporary axle of the kind described in Specification 106,381, for replacing the broken end of a driving- axle, is adapted to transmit the drive so that the car can be driven home under its own power, by providing the sleeve A with three or more flutings C each fitted with a roller D mounted in a cage E. The sleeve fits over the broken end of the driving-axle B, and, when the axle is rotated, the rollers are wedged by the eccentricity of the flutings, the drive is transmitted to the temporary road wheel mounted on the axle-end F. The sleeve is secured in the axle casing by a set-screw engaging a groove G in the sleeve.
