Abstract

284,414. Bostock, F. J. Nov. 2, 1926. Driving bogie wheels.-In a locomotive or motor rail or road vehicle one or more-axles 1, 2 are driven through worm gear 6, 7 and a universally-jointed shaft 13B by a motor 11 movably mounted on the vehicle frame 12 so as to keep in driving connection with the driven axles as they swivel or radiate. In the construction shown the motor is mounted in trunnions 17, 18 slidable in guides 21, 22 fixed to the vehicle frame, and is connected by a tubular casing 23 and a ball joint 24, 25 to the worm casing 9 of one of the axles mounted.on-the bogie 3B. The motor may be steam, oil, electric, compressed air, &c.
