Abstract
1361238 Photographic silver halide development using anti-foggant combination INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORP 15 Oct 1971 [15 Oct 1970] 48093/71 Addition to 1235747 Heading G2C An exposed photographic silver halide material is developed with an aqueous processing composition in the presence of an anti-foggant combination comprising a first azabenzimidazole which is 5-hydroxy-4-azabenzimidazole and a second azabenzimidazole of the formula: - wherein R<SP>2</SP> is H or 1-5C alkyl; and R and R<SP>1</SP> are each H, halogen, 1-5C alkyl, nitro, 1-5C alkoxy, aryl, sulphonamido or carboxamido or together with the carbon atoms to which they are attached form a carbocyclic or heterocyclic structure. The photographic silver halide material may be a silver salt diffusion transfer material or a dye diffusion transfer material e.g. a dye developer containing material. The anti-foggant combination may be initially located in any position as long as it is present during development. It may be in a layer that is processing solution permeable or be in the processing solution. The second azabenzimidazole may be 6-chloro-, 6-chloro-2-methyl-, 6-bromo-5-methyl, 5-methyl-, 5-methanesulphonamido-, 6-nitro-, 6-bromo- or 6-methyl-4-azabenzimidazole or 4-azabenzimidazole itself. In Examples 1-3, according to the invention, the anti-foggant combination is present in the processing composition which may additionally contain benzotriazole or imidazole.
