Levels and clinometers.-A trim indicator for ships comprises a level 1 in a frame 2 mounted on guides 3 on a base-piece 4, which is secured on pillars 6 on a sole-plate 5. The frame 2 is supported on two balls 9<a>, 10<a> mounted in pins 9, 10, the pin 10 being secured to a slide 18 so that its distance from the pin 9 can be adjusted to be proportional to the length of the ship; this distance is indicated on the scale 20. The pin 9 can be adjusted vertically by turning the drum 12, on which is a scale of feet &c. co-operating with an index 14. The plate 5 is secured to a support 25 by a pin 26 and screw 27; the screw passes through a slot 28 to allow of limited adjustment of the plate 5.
