Abstract

337,217. Bennett, H. Nov. 12, 1929. Levels.-In a ships' trim indicator comprising an arm carrying a water &c. level and mechanism for angularly adjusting the arm in the vertical longitudinal plane of the ship, the adjusting-means comprises a worm mounted on the arm co-operating with a, circular stationary rack. The device comprises a fixed sector b with a boss d to which is pivoted an arm f carrying the level e. The arm f has at its outer end a plate g provided with bearings for a spindle n carrying a worm o gearing with a rack p on the sector b. An index k, Fig. 1, on the arm f cooperates with graduations' h on the sector, fractions of the main graduations being marked on the head m by which the worm o is operated. In a modification, Fig. 3, the main graduations are marked on a dial q carried by the arm f, and a pointer u is carried by a worm-wheel s gearing with a worm r on the spindle n.
