Abstract

1359480 Clamps; hinges F O'FARRELL 29 Dec 1971 [31 Dec 1970] 61981/70 Headings E2B and E2F A clamping device comprises two clamping members each comprising two opposed limbs 1, 2 connected together at one end thereof by a stock portion 4 and spaced apart to define a slot 3 into which, an article 12 to be clamped may be inserted, a cam 6, or eccentric, rotatably mounted in one limb and adapted when the clamp is in a closed position to protrude into the slot to grip the article to be clamped, and wherein the two clamping members are pivotally connected together at the stock portions thereof. As shown, the clamp of wood, metal or plastics is provided with flanges 5 on the limb 1 and between which the cam, consisting of a cylinder 6 having a flat 10 or two spaced apart, coaxial cylinders or discs is rotatably mounted on a pin 7 and protrudable through an aperture 9; a lever 11 facilitates rotation of the cam. The inner surface of the limb 2 may be lined with cork or rubber 17 or knurled and the stock portion 4 may have a bore for reception of a pin or screw or lateral knuckles 15 whereby a number of clamping members may be stacked one above the other by the use of a common pintle 16.
