Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a tool transfer arm of a simple construction which permits clamping a tool securely, by providing on a side surface of a machine tool a tool storing magazine adapted to rotate tool pots connected in the form of a chain. CONSTITUTION:A pair of tool clamping arms 451, 452 are provided. The arms 451, 452 are adapted to be opened and closed symmetrically with respect to a rotary shaft 407, and have arcuate portions for clamping a tool. Stepped bores 459a, 459b common to the arms 451, 452 are provided. A stepped pin 460 capable of being engaged with both of the bores 459a, 459b, and a stepped pin 461 to be loosely fitted into the bore 459b are provided. A shifting mechanism for the stepped pin 460, consisting of a shaft 473, a nut 474, a spring 476, a clamp key 471 and a stopper 475 is provided in the rotary shaft 407 and the tool clamping arms 451, 452. A shaft 456 for producing a tool clamping force and springs 457, 458 are provided in the arms 451, 452. A comparatively simple structure described above permits clamping a tool securely.
