Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate rotation of tools held in a tool holding jaw when a key matching of the tool is made while rotating a drive shaft at a low speed by opening at a small amount the tool holding jaw at the retreated position of the tool exchange arm. CONSTITUTION:A rotary shaft 12 having arm members 23 fixed at its end advances and retreats by means of a cylinder 16 to pull out tools T1, T2 from and insert them into the drive shaft S and a magazine M. The shaft 12 is rotated through a crank shaft 14 to exchange tools. Holding claws 21a, 21b placed rotatably at the ends of the arm members respectively engages with racks formed on sliders 26a, 26b slidably provided within the arm members 23 to open and close through engaging wedge member 30 placed at the end of a rod 18 adapted to advance and retreat by means of a cylinder 29. When the rotary shaft 12 retreats and the tool T1 is inserted into the drive shaft S, the rear end of the rod 18 butts against a stopper 37 and consequently the rod 18 advances by DELTAl to open slightly the holding claws 21a, 21b.
