Abstract

721,464. Rope clamps. GRUDE, K. Jan. 12, 1953 [Jan. 10, 1952], No. 826/52. Classes 44 and 109. [Also in Group XXX] A rope clamp of the kind comprising two pivotally connected members 1, 7, the member 1 being attached to a fixed or movable element to which the rope is to be temporarily connected, and the member 7 being formed with a groove 8 disposed eccentrically with respect to the pivotal axis 2, the member 1 being formed with an abutment surface 4 against which the rope is clamped by rotation of the member 7 in a direction which makes the cross-sectional area of the space between the grooves 4, 8 progressively reduced, is characterised in that the groove 4 is formed so that its longitudinal centre line constitutes an arc of a circle eccentric with respect to the pivot 2, and in that this eccentricity is such that when the member 7 is in its mean position relative to the groove 4, the end of the groove 8 in the member 7 most remote from the axis 2 is substantially adjacent to that end of the groove 4 which is most remote from the axis 2, and vice versa. A spring- urged detent 11 and ratchet wheel 10 locks the member 7 in the adjusted clamping position.
