Abstract

Tyre and like inflating- valves. - A pressure gauge comprises a main casing 6 threaded internally to receive a guiding-sleeve 8 for a resiliently - mounted pin 9 adapted to open the tyre valve 3 against the pressure of a valve spring 13 when the casing is screwed on the valve stem 2. A valve 17 closing the connexion 15 to an inflating-pump is provided, and the pressure is indicated by a Bourdon-tube 20 communicating with a chamber 14 in the casing. The pressure-gauge is fitted with a movable dial 2 and is mounted within a casing 24. A spring 12 surrounds the pin and bears on a collar 11 thereon so as to tend to lower the pin, the end 10 of which engages the stem 4 of the tyre valve 3. The gauge may remain on the valve stem or be fitted occasionally.
