Abstract

1356181 Controlling unwinding J GODDERIDGE 28 July 1971 [15 Jan 1971] 35557/ 71 Heading D1J A bobbin 10 is clamped on a hub 9 which is slidable and rotatable on a driven shaft 7 carrying a disc 15, the axial component F of the weight of the bobbin causing the drive to be transmitted from disc 15 through a friction pad 14 to a flange 13 of the hub 9. The inclination α of the assembly is adjustable by tilting a supporting frame 1 to adjust the torque transmitted. In addition a hand brake 20 bears on portion 19 of the hub, the tension of the band being varied by a spring-biassed dancer arm (Fig. 2, not shown) over which the withdrawn wire passes.
