Abstract

1355180 Laminated fabric VITAFOAM Ltd 26 Aug 1971 [20 Nov 1970] 55184/70 Heading B5N [Also in Division D1] A laminated material comprises a substrate having a pile surface formed by a needle felting operation, a face lamina of plastics material, e.g. a polyurethane being provided on the pile. The substrate may be a non-woven material and may be supported on the surface opposed to the pile by a base lamina of woven, knitted, netted or spun bonded fibrous material or by an extruded plastics material layer; alternatively, the substrate may comprise a composite material consisting of a web of fibrous material needled to a layer of foamed plastics material, e.g. a polyurethane foam. The laminated material may be made by needling a fibrous web to one face of a sheet of foamed plastics material, e.g. a polyurethane foam to provide a substrate having a pile on the exposed face of the foam, adhering the fibrous web of the substrate, e.g. by a resinous adhesive to a base lamina and adhering, e.g. by a resinous adhesive a face lamina of plastics material, e.g. a polyurethane to the pile.
