Abstract
1353924 Feeding tobacco HAUNI-WERKE KORBER & CO KG 11 May 1971 [14 May 1970 27 March 1971] 14250/71 Heading A2C A device for feeding cut tobacco to a continuous rod machine comprises: a first conveyer 6 for a tobacco fleece driven at a speed depending on the speed of the rod machine, a projector means 21 in the delivery zone of the conveyer 6 to deliver the tobacco at a speed independant of the machine speed, and a further conveyer 17 to receive the tobacco in the form of a stream or rod. The tobacco is picked off a carded roll 1 by a beater roll 2, winnowed by a roll 3 and falls on the conveyer 6 to form a fleece 5 thereon. The projector means 21, which takes the form of a brush roll, feeds the tobacco to a gravity duct 14 down which it falls into a tobacco duct 16 above the conveyer 17. The conveyer 17 comprises a suction-backed air-permeable belt. In another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the projector brush roll (121) is arranged at the end of the first conveyer (106) which is guided over two rollers (107, 108) only, the third roller 9 and the downwardly extending part 6a of the conveyer 6 of the first embodiment being omitted, so that the tobacco is thrown downwardly towards the second conveyer (117).
