Abstract

1396272 Cigarette making-machines MOLINS Ltd 27 July 1972 [28 July 1971] 35514/71 Heading A2C A cigarette filler stream is formed by showering tobacco onto a band 4 moving upwards (as shown) or downwards along a path inclined to the horizontal by an angle at least of the order of 45‹. In one embodiment, the tobacco is showered onto a suction band 4 through a substantially horizontal channel 2 by an air stream, the so formed filler stream is trimmed by a trimmer 18 while the said filler stream is moving on the downward run of the belt 4, and the trimmed filler stream is transferred to a continuous wrapper web by a suction transfer wheel 12. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), a tobacco stream is formed into a slow moving carpet, as described in Specification 1192177, and this carpet is then conveyed between two bands (62, 64) to a roller (66) from which it is projected into the horizontal shower channel by a picker roll together with a projector roller.
