Abstract

1,144,311. Endless conveyers. MOLINS MACHINE CO., D. W. MOLINS and E. S. DOERMAN. 19 May, 1966 [20 May, 1965], No. 21405/65. Heading B8A. [Also in Division A2] Apparatus for reversing the orientation of a first row of two side by side rows of oppositely oriented cigarettes designated 1C and 2C respectively and travelling in the same direction, comprises a chain conveyer 10 for the row 1C followed by a fluted drum 22 for reversing the direction of travel of the row 1C, and a disc 24 rotating about an axis 25 and having equiangularly disposed flutes 24a in its face for receiving the cigarettes from the drum 22 and again reversing their direction in the plane of the row and also reversing their orientation so that it becomes the same as that of the second row 2C. A further chain conveyer 15 receives the reoriented first row 1C from the disc 24 and also, alternately, the cigarettes of the second row 2C from a chain conveyer (14), Fig. 2 (not shown). The cigarettes are held on the drum 22 and disc 24 by suction.
