Abstract
1345789 Fusible cut-outs LAUR KNUDSEN NORDISK ELEKTRICITETS SELSKAB AS 4 May 1971 [4 May 1970] 12992/71 Heading H2G A sand-filled electric fuse comprises a metallic fuse element of such a material that at, (and only at), temperatures above the melting point of the fuse element, the material reacts chemically in an exothermic reaction with the sand-filler. The fuse element may be of aluminium or magnesium used in conjunction with a filler of quartz sand (silicon oxide), and the fuse element may be provided with a well defined fusing point by making the fuse element with a portion having a reduced cross-section. The arrangement is said to lead to a more rapid destruction of the whole fuse element.
